I cannot find the documented history of the Origin of Multi-Level marketing, generally, it is believed that this concept owes its origin to ‘Nurtralite’ or formerly known as California Vitamin Company producing food supplement products. In the early part of the 1940s, the Company used to engage inDirect Selling. The concept of multi-level marketing had been around since the 1940s but did not actually start to become popular until the 1960s

Network Marketing/Referral Marketing

In 1939, according to “The History of Network Marketing,” Carl Rehnborg founded The California Vitamin Company and soon rebranded it as Nutrilite.

In 1945 to help boost sales, Carl invented “MLM” (Multi-Level Marketing) which developed into a highly profitable method.

In 1972, two guys by the name of Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos became Nutrilite distributors and set up a company they called Amway. In time, Amway eventually bought a controlling interest in Nutrilite.

In 1994, Jay and Rich (as Amway) took over full ownership of Nutrilite, and now Amway is the largest MLM company in the world! nearly 9 Billion Dollars of yearly Revenue

And this is where my story starts I am not going to get into any very personal information as anything that is typed or displayed online can be researched and found. If you are looking for something you will find it. I was introduced to Amway by a person who could not tell me what this Great New Business was about. I met this person at my son’s soccer game and we had a conversation that led to an appointment being set up at my home. The person came over and they had a binder in which we went through page by page and being a single mother at the time this appealed to me. Not to have to work a full-time job and to make as it was put “an unlimited amount of money” This was my first introduction to Network Marketing.

Did I Join “while that is a story for another time” “Okay just joking

Yes I did join and at the time I was working full time in an office but still felt I would be able to do both. I was wrong I did not drive and had to depend on someone to drive to meetings and other functions. I also had to hire a baby sitter to look after my child while I was away. Going to a convention was out of the question. This was not the right timing for me at all. I just could not make it work and I Left the business altogether.

I was re-introduced to Company in around 2003 it had changed a lot and so had I. I was now married and had 3 children and was a part-time worker in a Restaurant. My husband worked full time from 6 am – 5 pm I worked part-time 4 evenings a week.

I was very interested and listened to the new promotions and how easy it would be to get in and how easy it would be to build a network of distributors you only needed 6 each and those 6 got 6 and then those 6 got 6. Okay, so you know what I mean. That looked easy on paper (look at the diagram below)

Network marketing is a business model that relies on a network of distributors to grow a business. There are many types of network marketing programs.

I went to countless home meetings and had some home meetings as well being careful to only use the Company’s products. I was involved for many years going to meetings and arena presentations and different pieces of training and product demonstrations. I am not sure today if I just did not believe in the products or felt I personally could not be successful. There were great tools that I could use and buy such as read the right books listen to the right tapes and stay positive and enthusiastic to grow your business. Why was it so hard? I liked the products I used the products I liked the people I liked most of the meetings and seminars but I still could not be successful in this business. It was not because I did not have the opportunity to Grow a Business or that I could not go to conventions I could if I wanted to. My Husband allowed me that choice. There were quite a few conventions I went to but the time away from my family only hurt my relationship more and more.

I tried to talk to people and meet people and show them the opportunity maybe I just did not Believe it myself.

I tell you this for the people who are reading my stories this is not fiction this is truth and everything that I write if I do not let you it is fiction will be the truth to the best of my knowledge.

Now we get to What is Happening Today as an Affiliate Marketer and Joining an Affiliate Marketing Network such Amazon, ShareASale, Clickbank, CJ or any other that you may belong to.

The Number One “ thing” that will set you apart from everybody else as an Affiliate Marketer is your belief in yourself and your belief in a product or service you are promoting.
